Little Ybbs – Ybbsitzbach
The Ybbsitzbach fishing area (Kleine Ybbs) is an approximately 11 km long salmonid fishing area that has beautiful stretches of risel but also some short reservoirs and pools. The Kleine Ybbs flows into the Große Ybbs approx. 10 km below the fishing village of Opponitz near Gstadt, and from there runs upstream to the “Hängender Stein”. It flows through the village of Ybbsitz, which roughly corresponds to the middle of the district. Up to Ybbsitz, the character of the Kleine Ybbs corresponds to a small pre-Alpine river; above Ybbsitz it has more of a “stream character”.
Rainbow trout, brown trout, grayling and bullhead feel very much at home in the crystal-clear water, meaning that large fish are occasionally landed. The fishing area has been open to the public again since 2023, so there is a good stock of fish.

A perfect spot with real surprises for a decent presentation and short presentation. I like the mix and the contrast to the big Ybbs. As a “stream” there is more food close to the banks and it is the nursery for the Ybbs.
